KPV

Also known as Lysine-Proline-Valine, alpha-MSH (11-13)

A tripeptide corresponding to the C-terminal fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, studied for its role in inflammatory signalling.

What it is

KPV is a three-amino-acid peptide made up of lysine, proline and valine. It represents the tail end of alpha-MSH, a larger hormone, and research interest stems from the observation that this short fragment retains anti-inflammatory activity in models without the pigmentation effects associated with the full hormone.

What published research examines

  • NF-kB signalling, a central pathway in inflammatory response
  • Gut inflammation in animal models
  • Cytokine production in cell culture
  • Topical and oral delivery routes in preclinical work

Where the research stands

KPV research is largely preclinical, spanning cell culture and animal models, with interest concentrated in gastrointestinal and dermatological contexts.
