Cognitive and neurological research

Pinealon

Also known as Glu-Asp-Arg, EDR peptide

A synthetic tripeptide from the Russian bioregulator research tradition, studied for neuroprotective activity.

What it is

Pinealon is a three-amino-acid peptide (glutamate-aspartate-arginine) belonging to the class of short peptide bioregulators developed by Russian gerontology researchers. Like Epithalon, it came out of work on pineal gland extracts and the idea that short peptide sequences can influence gene expression.

What published research examines

  • Neuroprotection under hypoxic conditions in animal models
  • Oxidative stress markers in neural cell culture
  • Gene expression, the proposed mechanism across this peptide class
  • Cognitive endpoints in rodent studies

Where the research stands

The Pinealon literature is small and originates almost entirely from the Russian bioregulator research groups, with little independent replication elsewhere.
